Send the Airplane Geeks to Washington

The Airplane Geeks have been offered a fabulous opportunity by the FlightTime Radio guys to co-produce an episode of our show at the Smithsonian’s Udvar-Hazy Center at Dulles on June 18, 2011. We’ll be part of the museum’s official “Become a Pilot Day.” That’s the great news.

The not so great news is that the FlightTime Radio folks have not quite gathered up all the cash they need to cover airtime expenses to produce the show. We’re hoping you’ll help support the Airplane Geeks and Become a Pilot Day with a small donation … $5 or $10 will go a long way. We need to raise about $300 total.

As our way of saying thank you, we’ll send everyone who donates $5 one of our snazzy new Airplane Geeks buttons. Donate $10 and we’ll send you two. But wait … there’s more. We’ll also mention your name on the air. Any cash above and beyond what we need to cover our June 18th expenses will become a donation to Women in Aviation on behalf of the Friends of the Airplane Geeks … that’s you.

The PayPal donation process we’ve set up is relatively painless – at least for us!

Just click the Donate button and you’ll be able to send your contribution with your credit card. We’ve entrusted Rob with the job of making this all come together, so if you have any questions about this process, write to him at You’ll receive a message from us confirming your donation and amount. Update: Your response has been overwhelming and we’ve reached the amount needed to fund the second hour. We can’t tell you how grateful we are for your kind support. More details soon. We have the best listeners! – the Geeks.

Just in case you’d rather not donate to a bunch of geeks you’ve never met and you happen to be in the Dulles area on June 18th, come on out and join us at the Udvar-Hazy Center. The show begins at 10 A.M. and we’ll have Airplane Geek buttons for all. If you’re really lucky, we’ll be out of autographed photos of Dan Webb by the time you get there.
